Parish Council Casual Vacancy

If you care about your local area, and wish to make a difference the parish council now has a vacancy.
The council meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm, with meetings normally lasting about two hours. Requirements to stand for a councillor are –
- You must be 18 years old on the day of application
- A British citizen or Common Wealth citizen, Republic of Ireland citizen, or a European citizen.
- Registered as a local government elector for the town; and/or who has during the whole of the twelve months preceding the appointment occupied as owner or tenant land or other premises in the town; and/or his/her principal or only place of work during those twelve months has been in the town;
- and or has during those twelve months resided in the town or within 4.8 kilometres (three miles) of it and is not disqualified from holding office by reason of any disqualification set out in Section 80 of the Local Government Act 1972.
Anyone wishing to apply for the vacancy will need to email the clerk with a small introduction of why you want to become a councillor and what you would bring to the council. Alternately if any applicants are interested in applying, they could attend the monthly meeting to over-see how meetings are conducted.
